Charlie Puffer is an energetic host who produces amazing food from the kitchen while pouring selected wines. We opened recently at PoP for Leanna Rachel, and will return to play a full evening for the dedicated local crowd.
Featured artist, Chelsea Williams has played several of our events as a member of The Salty Suites, and now takes a solo turn. Her 2017 album, "Boomerang", gets steady airplay on our public radio station KCBX. Chelsea's made a name for herself as a musician in Los Angeles in a less than traditional way. Without the support of a record label, or radio play, Chelsea managed to sell nearly 100,000 copies of her independently released records the old fashioned way, by playing on the street. Chelsea became the darling of Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade and captured the hearts of locals, tourists and fans from around the world, gaining an impressive following. Among those who have taken note of her talents and frequent her sets include Adam Sandler, Sheryl Crow, LeAnn Rimes, and Ron Howard to name a few. Crosby, Stills, and Nash even sent Chelsea flowers in appreciation of the quality of her cover of "Helplessly, Hoping" they had found on YouTube. More at http://www.chelseawilliams.com

A Central Coast resident since 1989, Jim Conroy currently performs in the trio Burning, Bad & Cool, as well as Jim Conroy & The Mystery Brothers. In the early '90s, he was the leader of a number of R&B and country bands: The Moments, The Convictions, The Moonstone Cowboys and the acoustic duo Shim & Jim. In 1995, he released the CD “Convinced,” a mixture of R&B, gospel and country pop. For seven years he was a member of the San Luis Obispo Vocal Arts Ensemble, and was often a featured soloist with that group, joining them on tours of the British Isles and Canada. He's also won top prizes at the Great American Song Contest Pop Category and Australian Song Contest International Category, and a top 10 debut single by Sony artist Mads Langer. Cambria resident Jude Johnstone has played several Songwriters At Play tributes, covering songs by Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, and Leonard Cohen. Tonight, we turn the tables, and present an evening of her songs, performed by some of the Central Coast's best acoustic artists. The lineup includes Bob & Wendy, Ynana Rose, Jill Knight, Nicole Stromsoe, Karen Tyler, Holly Ann Phillips, Aaron Porter, Steve Key, Jude's daughter Ray Duncan, and a closing set by Jude herself.
Jude's songs have been recorded by pop stars Stevie Nicks, Bette Midler, Johnny Cash, Jennifer Warnes, Emmylou Harris, and Bonnie Raitt. Country star Trisha Yearwood cut several of Johnstone’s songs, beginning with the intimate ballad, and number one country hit, “The Woman Before Me.” Jude is also a recording artist with six CDs in release. Preview her songs at http://judejohnstone.com/
Jude Johnstone has had her share of unforgettable moments during her three-decade music career. Fresh out of high school, she found herself seated next to Clarence Clemons, the E Street Band’s sax player, on an airplane. Afterward, he was so taken with the demo she sent that he invited her to recording sessions for The River and got her hooked up with Bruce Springsteen producer Chuck Plotkin in L.A. Then there were the singular songwriters—T Bone Burnett and Leonard Cohen, to name two—who recognized in her a kindred spirit and asked her to sing on their albums, and the legendary Motown bassist James Jamerson who’d show up early at her weekly gigs just because he enjoyed helping her decide which songs to put on the set list. Once, she even received an out-of-the-blue invitation to pen lyrics to music composed by Bob Dylan, who’s not only the archetypal singer-songwriter of the modern era but a pretty darn infrequent co-writer.
Advance tickets are available at the Steynberg Gallery, 1531 Monterey St., San Luis Obispo. Or call 805-547-0278. Tickets are $12. Come early for a good seat -- show begins at 7:30pm. The Steynberg Gallery cafe serves beer and wine, dinner and dessert items, gourmet coffee and tea.
